Of late, the field of education has undergone a sea change. A number of progressive and promising changes have been brought into institutional teaching. It can no more focus only on imparting academic concepts in respective classes and be complacent about it. It has transcended the classroom transaction of knowledge and the four walls of a classroom.
Now, teaching a student is a process of creating an all-perspective human being who is knowledgeable with communicative skills, adept at the application of the learned knowledge, groomed with the skills of 22nd century, a problem solver and critical thinker with analytical abilities, compassionate to empathise with others, physically strong and mentally equipoised under all circumstances. Basically, education has become a man-making mission and knowledge has to be transformative and not just be informative.
To groom the children with the above mentioned qualities require dedication and sacrifice from the teachers and the head of the school needs to have a vision to inspire and guide the teachers in this regard.
I, as the principal, see the students through the eye Khalil Gibran who has said,
The souls of children dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.”
And he further adds to say about the teachers
If the teacher is indeed wise he does not bid the students enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads them to the threshold of their own mind.
With this thought in mind I firmly believe that a school should assume the unique responsibility of preparing the children for future which will be the students’ own world but is unimaginable and unknown for us. Hence our main objective of education becomes a relentless attempt to make the children individual and independent explorers of knowledge, profusely creative, extensively open and receptive and ever willing to learn so that they keep growing and maturing into consummate human beings with profound knowledge to face the vicissitudes of life while possessing human values like love and kindness for fellow beings.
